The Real Me

When I grow lost or lonely

I sometimes

Pull out the yellowing, vinyl photo album

My mother left behind

To see if that kid in the Batman pajamas

And dirty, sagging socks

Free of pretension, surrounded by

All the love he knew

Can remind me again

Of who I really am

For, he is more me

Than the me I’ve become
