Constellations

I used to ply the sky

In search of the shapes other men

Had imagined there

The Pleiades, Aquarius, Orion, Cancer…

But the only cancer I knew of

Took my family away,

Breaking our connections

Reaching across time, the stars

Shining their light from 10,000 years away, have seen this all before

So, I uncross the paths of Ptolemy and Job

Reconnecting the dots,

Discerning patterns of my own

Amid the frozen fireworks of glory

Changing the constellations each night

To tell my own stories

As if they are no more fixed than the

Shapes in the clouds
